KSLA Summer Book Study
Join KSLA in a state-wide book study of Peter Johnston's new book, Engaging Literate Minds: Developing Children's Social, Emotional, and Intellectual Lives, K-3.
You must be a KSLA member to participate.
We will be participating online on the Members Only section of our website,ksla.wildapricot.org
Click on the link to sign up.
You will receive a email to verify that you have signed up, and again once the Book Study is ready to begin.
Teachers will read the book, two chapters per week, and post in an online blog their thoughts and comments to each other.
Aileen Hower, Ed.D., past president of KSLA and assistant professor of literacy at Millersville University will facilitate this online discussion.
10 hours of Act 48 credit will be awarded for completing the book and postings.
The book study will begin on the week of June 15 and end the week of August 7.
KSLA York Adams Fall Book Study
Children come to school to become better readers, writers, and thinkers, but they also walk into classrooms hoping to be happy. Katie Cunningham argues that happiness must be as much of a priority in teaching as proficiency or achievement. When teachers intentionally design curriculum with joy at its heart, learning becomes more meaningful and memorable.
